I love the Scorpion 5A's they're the right length, have a great tip ,especially when I use the bell tone on my ride, but the key for me was the balance, they feel good in my hands weight is perfect and my grip is comfortable.
I alternate between 5A and 7A sticks depending on the situation. My brand’s 7A rarely go on sale, so I wanted an affordable alternative. These are close enough to my preferred sticks that I used Scorpion’s model for rehearsal and a few sets over the weekend. They held up extremely well. Happy with their weight and performance. I should have bought more than 1 pair when they ran a special sale.
Overall, I definitely enjoy using these sticks. I like the larger acorn tip that you typically don’t see with other manufacturers, which give great definition on the snare and cymbals. One thing I noticed when I first started using these was that they felt larger in diameter than most other 5A sticks. I compared to two other manufacturers, and the Scorpion sticks were bigger than both other manufacturers of 5A. I don’t have a caliper to measure the exact diameter, but if I did, I feel it would be closer to a 5B stick diameter. To me, this isn’t a deal breaker, but it is something to be mentioned. Next time, I may try the 7A size instead.
These sticks blow me away. After 20 plus years of playing VF brand, I'm officially converted to a scorpion only player. Rock on and praise God
