Steve Work is an independent drummer, originally from Detroit, MI. Steve began playing drums at the age of 10, and was playing shows at music venues by the age of 15 as a founding member of the band Halfway Legal, a regionally touring rock band based out of San Antonio, TX. In 2011, Steve won "Best Drummer" at the San Antonio Music Awards, as well as winning "Best Overall Musician" along with his brother and guitarist, David Work. With influences ranging from Scott “Flip” Phillips, Neil Peart, Daniel Adair, Keith Moon, John Bonham, and Chad Szeliga, he is known for writing drum parts that are appropriate for the song, while staying technically proficient and staying in the pocket. He has recorded with and played for Hugo Ferreira, lead singer of the Certified Gold selling band, Tantric. During his career, Steve has shared the stage with the likes of Accept, Cinderella, Dokken, Rick Emmet (Triumph), Foghat, Black Stone Cherry, Saliva, and many more. He was also previously with Rain on the Aftermath, which was signed to formerly Star 1 Records, and co-wrote their hit song, “Rosalee” - which topped out at #4 on the US DRT Active Rock Charts for 22 consecutive weeks. In 2020, Steve was added to the Scorpion Percussion Signature Artist roster - getting his very own signature sticks. Steve now resides in San Antonio, TX, where he is contracted to play for projects both in the US and Internationally – the most recent of which was the international Alter Bridge Collaboration Project.
