Since receiving a First Act drum kit at the age of 2, Jamin, affectionately known as “JayStixx”, has been actively embracing and utilizing his gift of drumming. Growing up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in a family of musicians, Jamin has found a knack of playing by ear and picking up songs and beats, reciprocating them on the fly. Jamin continued to build on his skills throughout grade school, taking every opportunity to be front row near drummers and drum circles. It was not long, before he has built up enough skills to be able to fill in and eventually became one of the main drummers of his home church at the age of 16. He continued to grow as a musician, and during his college days at The Pennsylvania State University, has had the pleasure of playing for his local collegiate church, the United Soul Ensemble student gospel organization, as well as with many great music majors and musicians around State College. His continued love for drumming and music in general lead him to complete a minor in music technology opening the door for editing, mixing, mastering, and potentially creating music individually. Jamin is currently the main drummer for his home church, Rodman Street Missionary Baptist Church of Pittsburgh, and have been blessed with many opportunities to play host for revivals, services, and perform in concerts for local and global artists such as Byron Cage, Lowell Pye, and Linda Brown to name a few. Jamin hopes to continue to build and progress as a drummer, as there is always something new to learn and opportunities for growth.
