Greg Slone is a true lifelong musician. He started showing a love for music and multiple instruments at age 5. He started seriously studying the drums at age 8. He picked up the guitar at age 13 and added bass to his musical interests at age 15. All along, he worked on developing his vocals and has been singing lead/backing vocals for many years now. He is a graduate of Northern Kentucky University and has been playing drums professionally for over 35 years. He has made his living as a songwriter, producer, musician and music educator. He is an accomplished writer and live performer. Some of the bands he’s been in and/or worked with include Havoc 9 (Indie rock), MOTH (Sony and Virgin records), Mack West (alternative Country), Slant (jazz fusion), Zionites (Reggae), BASTION (hard rock), Peter Noone of Herman’s Hermits, Floyd and the Walkmen and Joe Riley & the Hellhounds (SONY Music).
Greg Slone has been an in-demand studio session drummer for decades now. Producers and Engineers he has worked with include the likes of Ric Wake known for working with (Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Blues Travelers, Taylor Dayne, etc)… And Erwin Musper known for working with (Def Leppard, Scorpions, Van Halen, Metallica, David Bowie, Chicago, etc). Greg recently recorded drums for Producer Mark Liggett on the hit Country song “Honey” by Rayne Johnson. In 2017, Greg Slone opened his own teaching facility called DrumPOWER. He also owns his own recording studio called The Atomic Room. Some of his music can be heard on various platforms such as radio, television networks, movies and streaming services. You can see Greg’s teaching studio and recording studio on his YouTube channel called DrumPOWER. He has made many instructional videos on drumming, videos on reviewing guitars, and even videos on working out to stay in shape as a professional drummer.
Greg is currently working on his first solo album…which he is performing every instrument and vocal for. He also wrote the songs, recorded, engineered and produced the material himself. The album was expected to come out in 2024, but is delayed due to his commitments to Joe Riley and the Hellhounds. Greg Slone can be seen and heard on tour with Joe Riley and The Hellhounds. You can hear his drumming and vocals on the new incredible debut album by Riley called The Axeman Unleashed. The album has received critical acclaim and also features performances by legendary bassist Tony Franklin (The Firm, Blue Murder, Whitesnake, etc) and the great Scotty Page (Pink Floyd, Supertramp, Toto, etc). Joe Riley and the Hellhounds have made appearances in Guitar World magazine, Horrorhound magazine and even a new Comic book called The Masters. Greg’s character in the band is called “The Timekeeper” and there are plans to release action figures, comic books, etc as the band gains more traction. Joe Riley and the Hellhounds recently signed a record deal with Rock Solid Talent Entertainment/AMG/SONY. Even though the band had already achieved radio airplay with the song “Facedown” (written by Joe Riley and Greg Slone) they felt the support of a label was important to attaining their goals. To date, Joe Riley and the Hellhounds have released 4 videos for the album… all prior to signing with Sony. “Facedown” has already surpassed 30,000 views and with label support is expected to be exposed to more fans.
Greg Slone now has his own Signature line of drums with CZ Customs. They are top quality professional, custom drums built by Bill Spray the owner. They feature a custom “shattered” finish and are getting rave reviews. He also has an endorsement with Saluda Cymbals and he’s proud to now be a signature artist with Scorpion Percussion! Greg is continuing to partner up with companies that share his vision of customization, quality and service. Whether it’s in the recording studio or out on tour, he wants gear that can cover all the bases. He also has been a music educator for over 30 years and it’s important to him that any company he works with supports and values music education. Greg hopes to leave a legacy behind of always sharing his knowledge and experiences with the next generation of great musicians.
