Immortal Artist Mikey “Bug” Cox Turns Cancer Survival Into Support for Others

On April 1st, 2025, Scorpion Percussion Immortal Artist Mikey “Bug” Cox of Coal Chamber was diagnosed with Stage 3 cancer.

What followed was a year-long fight that tested every part of his life. In his own words, the battle was dark, scary, and life-changing — not only for him, but for everyone around him. Through brutal rounds of radiation, chemotherapy, surgery, and days where he was too sick to get out of bed, Mikey made a promise to his family: he was going to fight with everything he had.

And he did.

After battling cancer throughout the past year, Mikey recently shared the news that everyone had been hoping to hear: he is now cancer free.

For Mikey, survival was only part of the story. From the beginning, he knew he wanted to turn one of the hardest chapters of his life into something positive for others. That mission has now become a powerful fundraiser in partnership with Fxck Cancer, bringing together ddrum, Scorpion Percussion, TRX Cymbals, Gator Cases, and the music community to help raise awareness, support, and resources for others facing cancer.

As part of the fundraiser, Mikey is helping auction off a custom, one-of-a-kind drum kit from ddrum — a kit he will personally play two times before it goes to the winner. The package also includes contributions from Scorpion Percussion, TRX Cymbals, and Gator Cases, making this a truly special collector’s piece with an even bigger purpose behind it.
