Born and raised in East Tennessee, Michael grew up listening to a lot of country music but also was exposed to a lot of rock-- listening to his older siblings record collection. He began playing drums at the age of 14 and has performed live, recorded and taught for 46 years. His main drumming influence came from Peter Criss (KISS), Bruce Crump ( Molly Hatchet), Alex Van Halen ( Van Halen), Neil Peart (Rush), Steve Smith (Journey) and Jackson Spires (Blackfoot). Michael has performed and recorded with various rock, country and blues bands. He is currently with The LastBand, a southeast regional country band; drummer with Smith and Wesley, a Georgia based national country band; and drummer for Mickey Lamantia a national outlaw country artist.
