Dan began playing the drums when he was 11 years old and talked his parents into a toy drum set. That was the beginning of a career that has spanned over 40 years in music. My first real drum was a gold sparkle snare drum that my parents drove through a blizzard to get for me. That gold sparkle snare started it all really. I took a few lessons from a local teacher and unfortunately he passed away soon after I started, but he gave me the foundation, and I have been self taught, kind of, since then. I say kind of because I used to come home from school, put an album, yes alnum, on the stereo, slap my headphones on and play until dinner time. So I learned from some of the greatest, like Nigel Olsson, Ginger Baker, Sib Hashien, and a whole bunch of others. I credit my really good time keeping to playing to those LPs over and over. Since those early days I have played too many live shows to count, with a lot of varied artists and projects. I have done a lot of session work both in studio and via internet and that remains one of my favorite things to do. It forces you to be technically proficient and adapt to what the artist wants for their songs. I am currently the drummer for American rock band; With Satellites and we have just released our new single; Save Me. We plan on releasing many more singles in 2023 and beyond. We see the music business headed in the single release direction rather than full albums/cd's. I use Pearl Drums and hardware, Sabian and Paiste cymbals, Remo heads, and most importantly, Scorpion Percussion drum sticks.
